Not to exceed 500 words, please write about your philosophy of teaching. Include why you are interested in teaching, what do you think is important in teaching and learning. Share how your past experiences will enhance your ability to teach effectively. Past experiences can include any paid or volunteer work; formal or informal teaching settings; discipline related work; or even non-related work.

Send an email to Dr. Kittleson and attach a current curriculum vitae that includes education (all schools attended, dates, and degrees), professional and related experiences, professional association memberships, honors/awards, and any publications or scholarly work.

You are required to have three individuals complete the graduate assistantship form. Recommendations should address teaching skills and/or potential for teaching. Graduate applicants must have references completed such forms via pdf format  or on-line. PDF forms can be sent via USPS or email.  The USPS should be sent to Department of Health Education and Recreation, Mailcode 4632, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL 62901-4632, Attention Dr. Kittleson. In addition, the completed PDF forms can be sent to Dr. Kittleson at (kittle@siu.edu). Note: If you are concurrently applying for admissions, and if you are using the same references for both, the reference must complete both forms. Make sure they address teaching potential for the graduate assistantship application.
