Effective for Fall 2010 individuals may apply for the concurrent MPH/PhD program in health education. Students will earn an MPH in Community Health Education and a PhD in Education, with a concentration in health education. Students will be selected for the program through a competitive process--because of the uniqueness of this degree only 1 or 2 students will be selected. Coursework have been carefully selected and sequenced for students to complete both degrees in a timely manner. This concurrent degree program is intended for full-time graduate students who desire to teach at the university level.  Fall Admissions ONLY.

Requirements for admission:

Besides the current admission criteria, students who are interested in applying to  the Concurrent MPH/PhD program must have the following: 

·     GPA (overall 3.5) as undergraduate or 3.6 masters GPA

·     GRE Scores (verbal, quantitative, and analytical scores are averaged at the 75th percentile).

·     Have a personal interview with faculty (on campus, video conference or telephone)

·     Undergraduate degree in health education (or closely related field) and 3 years health-related work experience OR a graduate degree in health education (or closely related field) and 1 year health-related work experience

In addition to the Graduate School Application, you must complete the following:

  • Health Education Program Application
  • Minimum of 3 references (using required form below)
  • Official Transcripts from all universities/colleges listed on your application form
  • Curriculum Vitae

International Students Must Also Submit:

  • Copy of their passport photo
  • TOEFL Scores
    The English language requirement may be met by submitting:
    • 550 on the paper-based TOEFL
    • 213 on the computer-based TOEFL
    • 80 on the internet-based TOEFL
    • 6.0 on the IELTS
  • Financial Disclosure

Note that application due dates are as follows:

  • For entrance in the summer/fall semesters, the deadline is the THIRD Friday of January
