PhD Information

Welcome to the PhD in Health Education web page.  You can be part of the Saluki Tradition (our program has a rich history on placing our PhD graduates in universities, state and federal agencies, and a variety of public health organizations).  You can choose to study full-time (about 3 years) or part-time.  You will have the opportunity to work with faculty who take great pride in preparing you to meet the academic and professional challenges of PhD degree.  The links below provide you with information about the requirements of the degree and costs, as well as links to some of our outstanding graduates.  If you should have any questions, feel free to contact Dr. Mark Kittleson, our graduate director, at kitt@siu.edu.

Note that effective January 1, 2010:

  • Only Fall admittance is allowed.  The deadline for Fall admittance is the third Friday in January.
  • To allow us to provide the best mentoring of doctoral students, effective for the Fall, 2010 cohort we'll accept only the top ten applicants to our PhD program.  We will create a waiting list for those we find acceptable but not ranked among the top ten.

Hope to see you soon!
