Overview of 1994 HEDIR Messages

Due to pressure from the SIU Computing Center, the 1994 messages are in a zipped file. One can download this file by clicking onto the highlighted phrase "Click to Download All 1994 Messages (1-379) (206,000 bytes)". You'll then be prompt to save this file onto your disk. After it is downloaded, then type "1994.exe" (without the quotes) and it'll expand it into the messages of the 12 months. The number of messages per month are listed below:
  • January (1-36)
  • February (37-92)
  • March (93-139)
  • April (140-172)
  • May (173-187)
  • June (188-222)
  • July (223-246)
  • August (247-260)
  • September (261-289)
  • October (290-320)
  • November (321-338)
  • December (339-379)

These files are all in ascii format. You'll note that the HEDIR messages are broken into the various months. The messages are shown as they were actually received, in order according to the SIU listserv system. Two variations have been done on the memos. First: all messages typically have in their heading two lines--a "Reply-To" and a "Sender". In both of these cases, these are followed by "The International Electronic Mail Directory for Health Educators". To save some space, these two lines have been removed from each message. What you will note is that each memo starts with a date and who it is from. All such messages were sent via the HEDIR@siucvmb.siu.edu listserv.

Two: Each month in 1994 I sent several memos to all HEDIR subscribers which included the directories. To save space, the content of those memos have been eliminated. Only the date, who sent it, and the subject line remains intact, along with a memo indicating that I removed the actual contents of the memo. It was my decision to remove this information to save space. One can access the most up-to-date list by going back to the Health Education E-Mail Services Home Page.

I hope you enjoy this service. The messages have been numbered sequentially starting with memos on January 1, 1994.
